I was immediately drawn to this room that was featured in
House Beautiful and
designed by Barbara Westbrook and Kim Winkler when
Vitania of Verdigris Vie shared it last week. Those gorgeous blue shutters look reclaimed, but they were actually made to order. The shade of blue was inspired by the antique wood-and-iron chandelier which still had its original paint. Lovely all around!

I love myself a spa-like bathroom with a soothing shade of aqua on the walls, but this vibrant bathroom captured by photographer
Dan Duchars features all my favorite colors. I'd say that's a good way to start off the day. That wallpaper is sooooo fabulous, I can't hardly stand it. And I love all the colorful, mismatched towels. Is this photo just fun to look at, or could you really see having this bathroom in your home?

I just love this hall/stairway designed by
Ruthie Sommers more than anything. If it wasn't painted the pretty Blue Seafoam by Benjamin Moore, it wouldn't be nearly anything to write home about (or mention on here for that matter!)

"Turquoise slumbers fill your eyes. Smiles awake you when you rise." Sorry, I couldn't help it! As much as I'm dying for a canopy bed, I equally lust after a turquoise upholstered bed. I just can't recall one turquoise tufted headboard that I've found unattractive. I think the only reason I wouldn't get one is because I'm constantly changing the bedding in my room, and I love the blank canvas appeal of a naked canopy bed. Maybe one day I can have a guestroom with a dreamy turquoise bed, then just sit in there and stare at it all the time. Until then, I'll have this post to go back to!
Have a fantastic fall weekend everyone! :)

Gosh you guys, thank you so much for all those fantastic birthday wishes yesterday!!! It was so much fun getting the alerts on my phone as I was out and about celebrating the day away. Each one made me smile and realize how much I absolutely love blogging and sharing the turquoise love with you all!
Speaking of turquoise love, how spiffy is that glossy backsplash?! I don't think I'd ever get tired of looking at it while I stirred away my macaroni and cheese (just being honest with my skills!) I do love how modern and sleek it all is...and the white certainly doesn't hurt either! (Found via
House to Home.) Thanks again everyone for making my birthday so special! Your comments make all the difference in my day, yesterday and everyday! :)

Today is my birthday...turning 29! I thought this mesmerizing photograph by
Yvette Inufio would be perfect to share on this special day. Head over to her blog
Morning Light in my Room for lots more pretty images, and definitely check out her
Etsy shop because it is filled with beautifully soft and romantic prints just like this one. (And there is currently an anniversary sale going on!!)

Hallie over at
The Glam Lamb does it again!! Is this vanity she shared just not a total dream come true?! My makeup would be happy to live in all those drawers trimmed in turquoise! I love all the natural light flowing in too...that's key for proper makeup application! And I adore that big mirror, and that fabric...oh that fabric! I could pick apart every single aspect of this image, but you guys can see for yourselves why this is 100% fab!

Mondays I just can't seem to get out of bed, and this lovely image styled by
Chloe Brown perfectly captures what I wish I was doing right now...lounging in bed listening to some old records! Don't you just love those birds?

There are many mysteries in life--one of them is the cost of drapery. Seriously, can you believe how expensive it is? It's unfathomable to us how much one piece of fabric and four stitched sides can be so costly. But costly they are.
Aside from having a professional drapery workroom come to your house, measure and make the drapes to order, there isn't that many alternatives really. Sure, you can buy pre-made panels from Restoration Hardware or Z-Gallerie, but they usually end up looking like crap. And why? Because they never seem to fit. Either they are too long or too short or too wide etc..
We found Casa Fiora a long time ago when we were looking for an alternative to having custom-made drapes for budget reasons. We find that if you are looking for just simple styles, they are pretty good. We are writing about them now is because they now have a great tool for you to measure the draperies that you need. This, we feel, is one of the most important things you need to do. If not measured incorrectly, you can get the totally wrong size and end up throwing money away.
You can get the tool
here. Again, we emphasize that this is best if you are looking for simple draperies styles. Complicated styles are best done by a professional workroom.
