Simple and cozy by Casa Groove

Surrounded by several huge oaks, this courtyard design, at the back of a small lot, provides a quiet outdoor space to relax in. The lot is divided in a such a way that the front structure and garage serve as a buffer, preventing street noise from entering the small courtyard in the back, as well as to the main public spaces of the house. Casa Grove is situated on a wooded lot, 40 feet wide x 170 feet deep, facing a busy avenue in the north part of Coconut Grove, Florida. Although compact, it features a long and narrow entry, which creates the feeling of entering a large open space.
 
  

 
Inside, the house is formed as an open plan, combining a gray color palette with spots of bright red and an exposed corrugated steel roof and sidings; an industrial staircase provides access to the top bedroom/studio space.

1. Formosa Boulevard

This is a city located in the station Sin sing District, Kaohsiung,Taiwan. There are two different sections of this station is pretty amazing.  First, the exterior roof structure that resembles a form ofpraying hands. Second, the Dome of Light, or entrance station. This is a project of building the world's largest glass and created by Italian artist Narcissus Quagliata. The work of art made ​​from 4,500 panes of glass with a diameter of 30 meters.

James Robertson House: A Heavenly Escape

When I first saw this house, i thought to myself: Heaven is indeed a place on earth. I mean, look at it. It has the most amazing location, surrounded by the Ku-ring-gai national Park, 25 km north of Sydney, Australia.
This beautiful modern home consists of several pavilions made of glass, steel and copper.


All units are situated on a steep slope and getting here is no walk in the park; A boat trip, beach walk and a slow hill climb will lead you to the first level bamboo grove with a study, guest bedroom and a cellar.

Later on the path continues up to the fully transparent glass pavilions.

McKeough House: Classic Island Cottage

The McKeough House is a small cottage located on Block Island, off the coast of Rhode Island. Although keeping the traditional island style of weathered gray shingles, porches with low-pitched roofs, and steeply pitched extended dormers, this charming home has a whimsical twist, created by two house blocks and a central connecting unit.
The roof of the attached front porch continues through the house; on one side it serves as the vaulted ceiling of the living room, where on the other side, as the roof of the back-entry porch.


The design of this charming private residence is simple yet classic, featuring pure and uncluttered, bright open spaces. The living room serves as a space somewhere between an indoor and an outdoor room, featuring exposed rafters and 8ft tall framed doors and transom windows overlooking magnificent view of the ocean.

I love the simplicity of the kitchen with its large double-hung windows, floating sink and the ample of bright light pouring in.

The mass of the structure has been cut in two, and so has two sets of stairs, each leading to dormer bedrooms on each side of the house.

This beautiful house is also featured in Sarah Susanka’s book “Inside the Not So Big House“. In this book Susanka and architectural design writer Marc Vassallo focus their lens on 23 homes, from Rhode Island to San Diego, illustrating exceptional attention to detail – Each offers inspiration for those building or remodeling to transform their home into an expression of all that is important to them.

Stanwell Park Beach House

This modern holiday home, designed for both entertaining and family vacations, consists of three attached pavilions in local stone, timber and copper, overlooking Australia’s Stanwell Park beach and the Pacific Ocean.
Situated on a steep site, the building features separate levels and a series of decks, allowing external, yet private, living spaces.


carefully planned, the different levels also allow a number of families to comfortably enjoy their vacation together.


The large roof overhangs, shutters, and high covered spaces provide shade in hot summer months.

Prefab Home: Cape House

Located in a small town in Cape Cod, approx. 90 miles southeast of Boston, Massachusetts, this family getaway is a beautiful 2777 sq. ft. prefab home with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, kitchen, living room, multimedia room, an outdoor terrace and a rooftop solarium. …Oh, and a picturesque location overlooking Salt Pond Bay in the Atlantic Ocean.
The house features a simple box-like shape with a birch-clad exterior and an inset entrance way. The rectangular split-level floor plan creates great spaces, such as the terrace adjoining the living room on the second floor, a veranda with insect screens, and a balcony on the west-facing facade.

Wow! check out the rooftop area and its amazing view. What a great place to bask in the sun on summer days and spend some quality time with family and friends relaxing on those comfortable lounge chairs in front of the chimney on chilly nights.

Wood panel covering, windows, bamboo flooring, as well as the modular furniture were all prefabricated and transported by road.

Overall, the construction took three weeks in the factory and four months on site.

Osprey House: A Small Cottage by the Sea

A narrow strip of land doesn’t mean you need to give up your dream home. Take this small house for example, it sits between a road and the shoreline, raised above ground, in an area prone to flooding on New England’s eastern shore. It’s an expanded version of the fishing shack, standing as a stark contrast to large McMansions scattered in the area.
Planning of this charming private residence takes full advantage of its location and ocean side views, where open rooms are located on the water view side while passages, utility, bath and other serving uses are located on the street side.



This compact 1,440 sq. ft. home is both efficient and low maintenance, featuring two bedrooms and a main hall with a kitchen, dining and living areas. The design is simple and pure, yet an inch of this remarkable view has not been wasted. Just look at this space… If it were mine, i would never leave. To me, it is so magical, even the word ‘Serenity’ cannot begin to describe it…
…and the kitchen is simply the perfect space for cooking … I mean, who wouldn’t want to stay there all day long, cooking fresh seafood or baking Brioche and other home-made goodies.

Ygne Summer House: Going On Holiday

Located in Gotland, one of Swedens most popular summer vacation spots, this charming holiday home blends beautifully into its natural surroundings.
The exterior of the structure features Chinese tung oiled pine siding and decking, green painted siding combined with cor-ten steel details.Compared with the rich exterior, the interior of the house is calm and subdued with its white painted walls, white washed pine floor, square concrete fireplace, and limestone. All the material were produced locally on the island of Gotland.

From the facade into the inner courtyard, large floor-to-ceiling windows bring natural light and wooded scenery.

I simple love these charming built-in beds with their red-patterned curtains, providing privacy and a lively color to the sleeping area.

Two small beach cabins are located just a short walk away, with pine facade panels treated with a tar and linseed oil varnish – a traditional treatment for houses by the sea.

Beach House in Las Arenas

Located on a beach 100KM south of Lima, Peru, this modern structure is a 2,300 sq. ft. beach house for a couple and their three children. The house looks like a large container box, however if you look closely you will notice the volume has been strategically cut in different shapes and sizes to create visual effects and control sunlight.
The structure has also been suspended over the lawn to create the feeling of weightless and freedom, enhancing the concept of a seaside getaway.



Living areas are arranged as a continuous space, blending indoor and outdoor areas. I love the way the view is almost framed by the structure, creating beautiful and intimate outdoor spaces.
